Gift Ideas For Babies
Baby has barely arrived and already we are showering this precious creation with love and dreams for the future.

What Money Can't Buy: Every baby needs the affection and attention of at least one person.
The more loving interaction a baby receives the sooner it learns to trust and give love in
return. But often new parents are nervous and discouraged. This can interfere with their
ability to interact lovingly with their baby. So perhaps the most precious gift we can
give a baby is to be supportive of parents at what is an exciting but emotionally
demanding time. The smile from a neighbour, a casserole dropped off for later, a
supportive message from workmates: small gestures that money can't buy.
Baby Needs...
A comfortable nest: cradle, cot, travelling cot, cot sheets, cotton blankets, doona and cover, cot "bumpers", mosquito net, oil heater if no central heating, Change table for changing and storing diapers, bucket with lid for dumping used diapers, laundry basket, musical box or mobile for bedtimes, Baby sling.
Wheels: Pram, pushchair, car capsule.
Clothes for casual living:
- For hot climates: Not a lot
other than Tshirt, singlet, diaper, pants, socks/booties, bibs.
- For colder climates: Many all-in-one studs-down-the-front romper
suits, singlets, diapers, socks/booties, nightdresses, Tshirts, footed pants,
bonnets/beanies, bibs. For out-of-doors: padded suit, hooded jacket, woollen
sweater/jacket, mittens.
Clothes for social occasions:
Soft shoes, socks/booties, mittens, bibs, Matching bonnet or hooded jacket,
Bib'n Braces are great for crawling around in, Delicate fine cotton or wool
dresses/suits, embroidered cotton/wool/polar fleece blanket/pram set.
Nourishment:
Breastmilk is the gold standard of course, but after that baby will need:
Bottles, sterilizing equipment, bottle warmer, cups with baby spouts, bowls,
baby spoons (Plastic is practical for when baby decides to DIY feeding), Baby
formula, measuring spoons, baby thermometer.
Entertainment:
Entertainment: Babies love people! So meeting friends for a
coffee, joining a local Playgroup, or just visiting relatives gives
our baby experience in reaching out and touching. Mobile, Stuffed toys,
Music box, rattle, push along train with bells/animal figures, Activity
Centre, saucepan -and -wooden spoon combo, stacking blocks, shape sorters,
decals for bedroom wall.
